Disconnecting every hour on the hour (POE1) and half-hour (POE2)

I can't solve it. Read and tested several methods to resolve. Ran WinMTR, log below.

Bump - need some help. Can't finish the Uber lab in time, disconnect happening every 30 minutes now.

What is the actual IP address you're trying to ping from your Client.txt file?

" Thanks for the log. We can see the pings successfully reached Global Secure Layer's network before being discarded - given who GSL are and the nature of a WinMTR's pings, that's not altogether surprising. It is somewhat surprising that the issue is apparently twice as bad in PoE 2 as the original, though - I would have assumed that the latter would be less stable due to a recent challenge league launch. The log does appear to suggest a server-side issue is the most common explanation. To try to confirm or disprove that hypothesis, would you mind testing with a VPN to see whether the issue still occurs? You shouldn't need to spend any money to do so - the free plan of ProtonVPN would be more than sufficient. You ping will likely be higher while testing, but that's okay. As an aside - have you tested multiple gateway locations? Do the disconnection occur regardless of the gateway you connect to, or only on the one you most commonly use? Have a few errands to run with the kiddos tomorrow morning but will attempt and return with results after.
Tks, SS |

Update: using ProtonVPN solves the issue.
However. I experience lower framerates as expected and sometimes the game stutters where it didn't before. Can we continue to explore the non-VPN required fix? I don't think it's on my end, and from what I've seen, others have experienced the same. California server fyi. |

When you run a VPN, you connect to the same Path of Exile game servers in the same data centre... while GGG can check, their servers functionally do not know that you are using a VPN, and the servers will not behave any differently in response to your VPN usage.
That a VPN resolves the issue, unfortunately, does therefore rule-out it being a server-side issue, and therefore something that's under a greater or lesser degree of GGG's influence. They possess a single office in Auckland, New Zealand - they're a comparatively small company, and their control over the internet's backbone infrastructure in your country will be close to non-existent. There's therefore no concrete solutions to be offered. You could contact your ISP's support team, document the situation occurring under typical routing conditions but not with a VPN active, and ask that they make changes accordingly - but you're highly unlikely to reach anyone sufficiently senior or technical to both understand your request and be in a position to do anything in response. Showing them both a WinMTR log created while using a VPN and one when not doing so would help anyone there to better grasp the nature of the problem. You could try connecting to a different Path of Exile gateway - a higher but steady latency with no disconnections might be preferable to a smoother experience that sometimes abruptly fails entirely. The issues you're encountering while using ProtonVPN might be down to using their throttled free plan rather than a paid plan. You could always pay for one month of their standard plan to see if that helps. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.
