Clarity about "Minion power"

As per the title, I am using Cast on minion death but I have no idea what "Minion power" means. the description makes it sound like scaling a minions health, damage, resistances or level will improve the energy gained from them but improving these actually provides no additional energy...

A bit more clarity into what scales minion power or if its even possible to scale it would be great.
