Cleansed Fortress despawned after the boss

I was running this at t4 and died to some abyss monsters. I took a different path, intending to finish them off later, found the boss, and died again (oops). For some reason I didn't respawn at the boss waypoint, but ran back regardless, killed the boss, and when I came out, the entire map had despawned. All the loot, all the monsters, all the league mechanics (there was at least breach and the partially cleared abyss), everything just gone.

Feels pretty weird sprinting through a completely empty map wondering where all the monsters went.

when you enter the first time a boss room due mapping you get a message that you won´t get back to the map when you die..
Apparently this was added in 0.2, although I have no recollection of it. I didn't stick with mapping very long in Dawn of the Hunt, but I got further than t4 and almost certainly died more frequently, so I'm very confused how I never encountered this before. Supposedly it's intended to prevent farming content by dying on purpose, but monsters don't respawn in maps and bosses aren't the only thing that can kill you, so... huh?

If you decide to rush to the Map Boss without interacting with any of the other Map content and then die, you will respawn at the Boss checkpoint and only the Map Boss will be present. All of the other monsters and content will be removed. This is to prevent cases where players would be able to farm multiple copies of the same rewards by dying on purpose.


Am I missing something? Rushing a boss and dying on purpose to (somehow?) farm content seem like polar opposite approaches to mapping. I've also never once noticed the message you mentioned - if I have to be on the lookout for it and it only appears once you're in the boss arena, that kind of defeats the purpose, no?

Also, as I noted in the original post, I did not actually respawn at the boss checkpoint, but one slightly further back. Even if an entire map despawning is for some bizarre reason intended, respawning in the wrong place isn't. It's actually one of the reasons I thought the whole thing was a bug.
