Why is nobody talking about crossbows in 0.3?

People seem to be sleeping on crossbows right now.
Crossbow builds are getting a massive buff with the removal of the movement speed penalties for reloading/swapping ammo. The new patch has big updates for many crossbow skills: Fragmentation Rounds, Incendiary Shot, Rapid Shot, Emergency Reload, and the tried and true Galvanic Shards. (Are there any I missed?) Tactician is getting major buffs, and crossbows may be the weapon of choice for Tactician totem builds. Here is my reasoning: the base stats for totems are now your weapon’s; spears and bows are single-handed (technically not bows, but they use a quiver), whereas crossbows require both hands, so crossbows should have better stats. I am 100% too lazy to confirm this. It seems like the herd wants to run either Open Palm or bows on Deadeye, so crossbows could be relatively cheap this league. Is anyone planning to league start with crossbows? What ascendancy/build are you planning on using. Last bumped on Sep 2, 2025, 10:29:43 AM

There are major bugs going on with the crossbow, no mention to fixes about these things, so if these "bugs" are still there all the so called buffs aren't really important if you can't properly play the weapon.
Skills got some major changes yes but some of them got their primary interaction completely removed. I just want to mention siege cascade because it was my to go skill on tactician in 0.2, i can tell for sure this not going to play same way as before. About other skills most are afraind that galvanic shards is unusable now but i'm not sure so i'll need to test it in the field before judging it. I'm going to start mercenary as usual and pick Tactician and see what happens, i'll probably level up other characters as well but i'll start with that. Seriously though, I was thinking of trying Tactician this league. Haven't played Mercenary before but it looked fun in the reveal. But it's probably too early to tell how strong it will be compared to other builds, mainly because of the missing passive tree, |

maybe i'll trye some stuff with the new high velocity rounds but i think it still wont be able to break armor wich ultimately will make me play something else :D

I actually wanted to try the mercenary this league as I haven't tried that character yet, but the call of a summoner is starting to creep back into my head again.. Im leary of all I've read about the crossbow reload mechanic. Is it really slow ? I guess I can just roll a Merc and try it out for a few levels before Friday ...

I'm stoked to play crossbow again this league. and just read a patch update that witch hunter ascendancy node gives 100 extra weapon passives instead of 20 lol.. gives me some wild ideas of potential.
that being said, galvanic should do more dps at higher levels, esp if up close to overlap shards, but it will be costing more mana to reload more often, but some of the unique supports should be a lot of fun to play with. Frost will be a lot more viable for a defensive layer now too so yeah, going to be a lot of fun. |

With the removal of the weapon swap penalty is there any cool combo we could do with both bow and xbow?

The sad reality of crossbow is that they are solid when they work until they dont and u can't shot or reload xD and then u spam reload pray it's gonna reload or just logout and log back.again to fix the reload ...that is the main issue of crossbow
I'm not even talking about the zdps skills crossbow has 🤣 |
