Why some form of Mercenaries (even if very nerfed) MUST go core!

Campaign rushing.

For years we have been asking for a way to skip the campaign. Having a series of high level mercs to carry us through the campaign is an easy best second option.

So, nerf them, make their items unchangeable, do whatever. But leave mercs in the game if only as a campaign rush mechanism

If that is their only purpose, then just get rid of them and introduce an option to skip campaign.
