Network latency issue between New Zealand and Australia.

I'm having very inconsistent network performance when playing POE1 on Australia Region. Some maps/hideout loads are 35ms, some are 180+ms. I've attached a screenshot which shows that ping and tracert both show ~180ms to the target IP address, ingame latency is 180ms while a tracert to Cloudflare or PathofExile.com is around 12ms.

+1, since the start of this league I've exclusively played on AU because the Akl server has rubber banding and 300-400+ in the 'Network' line in the performance monitor (so I rubber band all over the place), then every now and then I get the same thing on AU and just stop playing.
