Steam client downloading patch each time game launches

My steam client re-downloads a patch (unsure which one) every time I launch the game. When in game and trying to login, I get prompted multiple times that I need to relaunch to install a patch. I do get in after a few attempts but this is tedious every single time that I launch the game.

Any suggestions will be helpful and appreciated.
