Coiling whisper is weird with Bladebitter Merc :(

Previously, I was playing normally and could get soul stacks as usual from Coiling Whisper.
After I hired a mercenary named Bladebitter, I noticed that I couldn’t fight the Searing Exarch.
When I started to pay closer attention, I saw that the stacks were not increasing anymore.
I’m not sure what’s causing this.

OK I found the problem
Malevolence is increasing skill effect duration


im so stupid

I couldn't work out why my stacks stopped when I added him too.
