Anathema and Merc

What if i use Anathema on Mercs and i apply 1 curse (no source of additional curse)? Do my curse override Merc's 3 curses?

It shouldn't override them.
I'm using Anathema on my merc and even tho he only casts one curse, I can still apply a second one on top, without having extra curses on my setup. |

Just tested, it seems to work fine. My merc applied vulner and poacher, then i casted assasin mark, 3 icons appeared.
