Bug Reports (Path of Exile 1) - Crash on Black Screen Shortly After Launch (Event ID 1000, Exception Code c0000005) - Forum

Hello,

I’ve encountered a consistent crash when trying to launch Path of Exile via Steam. The game reaches a black screen for about 5–10 seconds after launching, then crashes to desktop without any in-game error message.

This issue started occurring today (June 17, 2025). I was able to play normally just yesterday with no issues.

Steps taken so far:

- Verified game files via Steam
- Rebooted the system
- Ensured all Windows and GPU drivers are up to date
- Ran "sfc /scannow" in windows cmd — no integrity violations found

- RAM: 16 GB Physical Memory
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
- OS: Windows 10 Education, Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045
