Better player agency proposal

Hi GGG,

This is my first post. I am not a pro gamer, but I have played ARPG since Diablo 1, so I have some experience in the genre.

I have a proposal to turn the gearing experience into 80% user agency based. I will try to make my point quick and clear and I hope you consider:

Current state:
- Gearing has multiple levels of RNG
- Chances to get an upgraded version of you gear is exponentially lower as you progress
- Current gear crafting is just another layer of RNG

Desired state:
- A player deals with RNG until they find all affixes they want (maybe early maps)
- The player now will shift to upgrading the gear. They will need other types of material to upgrade affixes/ tiers/ rarity to the gear they have.
- Gear should have XP too: players get a better gear as they play with the same gear for long; if they sell, the XP is lost to start over with another char. So, it becomes a temporary tradeoff when you switch gear.
- This preserves SSF and trading leagues, because you can still trade for materials or items fully optimized to save time. Nothing is lost.

The key here is that RNG is not the only engagement factor in ARPGs. Today we are mitigating RNG by "increasing chance of finding" by 200%, then running the lottery 1000 times until we win it; or doing a meaningless shortcut to buy a winning ticket in the marketplace.

This is my hope to go back to the game.

If RNG is going to stay the main thing, then boost cracfting currencies by a factor of two or three (mostly regals and exalts, to some extent chaos orbs and maybe even essences)

If your build is going to rely on having specific modifiers on some key pieces (eg: getting some base crit on a weapon, or some mana leech for a chayla monk) and you absolutely can't garrantee to get a suitable piece for it up until mid altas because you have zero determinism and almost no currency to pull the vision-craft lever more than a couple times, then all of there builds are dead in the water.
Alternatively you just could (and should) buy your key gear pieces on poe.trade all the way through and never bother using a single ex to craft until very late game
