Secret quest Cue Final Letter.
I think the final letter is to us, telling us that at this point we have failed in doing whatever actions we could take to subvert the ending of the campaign.
It makes sense contextually as a cue point in the campaign. “Extremely personal words of love, honour, and hopelessness (love and honor = secret quest hopelessness = failed) scrawled by a shaking hand… it appears to have been carefully written to avoid revealing who it was intended for.” From a contextual standpoint that means the NPC that asks us to retrieve this letter might not be the intended recipient. Meaning another NPC is, however I have yet to find one. Then I thought from outside the box, maybe the message is to us. This would imply all we need comes before the final letter. And that nothing we get afterwards is of consequence yet. The final letter itself may still be a piece of the secret quest, giving it to that NPC certainly isn’t. The fact you can’t bank the quest items really adds to the ability to see hints like this outside of normal context. I also have a weird belief about the sacrificial heart being used much later on in some weird quest chain to reanimate the soul clinging to life. The more you look at these “side quest items” the more weird they actually are. Just food for thought everybody. “Quest items are used to progress the story. They cannot be sold or stashed, but can be discarded. Discarded quest items can be reobtained from their original source”. How does giving me 10% ele res or some life or 2 skill points progress the story? Sure it gives you a power boost but that doesn’t progress the story in anyway. And if you guys look carefully theres a weird strange voice chain that happens at some point. Which basically tells us we failed the secret quest and we are an agent of chaos. ✌️❤️👍 Last edited by Lore#3772 on May 13, 2025, 6:45:08 PM Last bumped on May 15, 2025, 8:46:03 AM

" What is the context you're finding here? Because it doesn't sound like you're talking about the lore reason that an outsider was asked to search for the person, instead of one of the Maraketh. |

I don’t know about the lore. I know about how secrets are hidden in plain sight. The part I lack is entirely the lore and I wouldn’t know how to make heads or tails of the lore itself.
I heavily expect whatever context I am missing to be game lore driven. There are definitely secret quests in game that can affect your campaign state. We already know there are two secrets in the dark quest files. And no it’s not because cruel exists. I’ve been banned from all the path of exile discords for talking about this. So this is the communities last shot before I dip out and call it a loss. Treat me like a clown or treat me like a resource it’s up to everyone here. " Well in this case, the letter (intended for Shambrin, the originator of the quest) is written to avoid revealing who it was for is because it would make Shambrin complicit in the writers heretical actions, and thus require Asala to punish her. By keeping it vague, Asala can claim ignorance in the matter and avoid the cultural need to punish someone who had trespassed on holy ground and 'stole' a burial there. Though ironic that you called yourself Lore and claim no knowledge of it. |

My real life speciality in knowledge is lore. Which is why I can’t assign video game lore to memory.
Video game lore just doesn’t interest me enough often. Not that it’s bad but typically I just don’t have the available bandwidth Which is why I’m asking for assistance in this endeavor. Last edited by Lore#3772 on May 14, 2025, 12:47:33 PM

" I guess no one cares about additional content. It’s like what they say, when you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. I’ll remember that I gave the entire community many chances to be part of a team endeavor when I decide if I’ll reveal the process or just profit from it. It’s wild to me that no one is interested in solving the very clearly available secret quest chain I appreciate the lore drop to help me rationalize more information. I won’t forget it.
