Level 87.
Doing tier 15's, and if I don't really max them I get garbage loot. When I do, I get killed in a mine by a purple globe behind a cliff wall that completely hides my view. I tone it down, get killed by a boss after he is dead because he spawned giant fire globes that explode after time all over the place and I cannot jump away after hitting him dead. It's ok though, he can 2 shot me and I kill him, but thank god he dropped some worthless orbs and blues. Why am I even seeing augmentation orbs all over the place at this level? So worth it. XP is back to the start of level 87. Figure it's a good time to just bow out and congratulate the team on finding a new player, hooking me, them tossing me out of the hardcore sadist club. Maybe next release.. Last bumped on May 13, 2025, 5:16:31 AM

I just got back into the game after a week off of frustrations to try out the new loot drop patch. Been going reasonably well but am in the same boat as you. We are showered by loot drops now but nothing in favor of your character in my experience. It seems like the higher your skill level, the less useful the item drops are. Trying to use exalts but am yielding dud gear. Was struggling to reach level 79 but my experience has dropped to the beginning again due to a few deaths. Lost many hours of progress with no good gear gain from drops....making a lot of gold though =\
Too frustrating!! I want to enjoy the game but am not. |

theres no good drops because the make the decent affixes, of which there are like 4, rarer than the lottery. u just get mana on kill, reduced att, stun bs... its literally the same shit affixes EVERY SINGLE TIME. just one of them makes the whole item useless too.

As feels is nearly always the case when folks are bemoaning poor loot quality, you're all ignoring the trade economy. I know trade isn't anyone's favorite part of the game and it is absolutely your prerogative if you want to ignore it, but loot is never going to "feel good" if you're not actively engaging in trade because the loot system and drop rates are designed with trade in mind.
The reason you feel like individual affixes become more rare as you level is because higher ilvl drops draw from a larger pool of possible affixes. GGG isn't secretly tweaking odds behind the scenes to deprive you of the items you want - it's just that regardless of your build or class there are always going to be more affixes you don't want than those you do so if you're trying to rely exclusively on the RNG of raw drops and exalted orbs to get you the perfect mix it's going to take you much longer than if you set some currency aside and then trade for the items you need. Instead of burning all your exa trying to roll random drops, spend some here: https://www.pathofexile.com/trade2/search/poe2/Dawn%20of%20the%20Hunt/brbrrg2tL Or here: https://www.pathofexile.com/trade2/search/poe2/Dawn%20of%20the%20Hunt/K4o3lynh5 Eventually I expect we will have a much broader range of options for crafting but for now we're pretty much limited to orbs and the Recombinator which on their own don't get the job done - so while you wait for more crafting options you should really just be trading. Well, I only enjoy the game playing strictly solo, with no trade. It's just how I prefer to play the game. I wished we had an offline mode with much higher drops. That will not happen though =(
I just have to keep struggling I guess. Trading is not my thing. I want to enjoy this game finding and creating everything on my own. |
