My thoughts on what to fix in poe 2
|
I thought PoE 1 was interesting but eventually, a badly designed game. The chest with 6 sockets that lead to everyone playing 1 button builds, the coder gems that automates everything, etc...
So far, I agree with every single change made in path of exile 2. That doesn't mean the game is balanced, though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed once this is out of beta. First, please prevent people from swapping gems and gear midway through a map. A lot of unbalanced shenanigans do happen because of such. Like in diablo 3, the instance is open, once you enter it, all your gear and skills are in place, locked, until it's over. Second, enough with the stuff chain proc-cing to oblivion. If a pair of boots deals overkill damage to an area around us, no need for it to happen more than once. Third, it would be nice to have some kind of solo self found league but in which we could still party with players, just not trade. I bet a lot of people would play that if we could. Fourth, don't be scared to nerf stuff like these lightning spear builds. Don't let these broken, unbalanced things go on for a whole season. Otherwise, every season will have these broken builds go on and it will make the game permanently broken. Fifth, while it is nice that these coder "do X action on y situation" were somewhat nerfed, they weren't nerfed enough. A build that clears maps without pressing buttons shouldn't exist, period. Sixth, please rethink your balance ideas. Take action speed into consideration. If a move kills monsters in 2 seconds, and another one kills monsters in half a second, this isn't "balanced". The quicker action is clearly 4 times as powerful, which is why everyone makes builds centered around skills that are quick and wide. Nerf those skills, make enemies deal less damage, make players deal less damage as well. It would be nice to go in melee range and not die without having full on defense, and it would be nice if melee could actually deal equal or more damage than their ranged counterparts. Seventh, make gear less powerful. the gap between geared people and ungeared people shouldn't be that wide. Like, just a 20 % drop to all statistics found on gear would be nice. Eight, please adjust the loot a bit to promote people opening up their games to the public. Can't find a public group unless I open it or it's for low levels. Nine, having a short allocation of like 30 seconds instead of 2 seconds would be nice. Not everyone's a grandmaster loot master grinder. That 2 seconds feels like it doesn't exist to me. Ten, more options to adjust groups. Level restrictions and such. Opening up a party and having a dude enter and kill everything super easy isn't fun. Seeing him actually lower level than me is absurd. This game still suffers from the same problem PoE 1 suffered ; enemies dying the split second their little toes shows up on the corner of that ultrawide monitor. It holds promise and since GGG did prove they could code a game, and since every change made in PoE 2 so far were good, I'm kind of keeping my hopes up, although I fear that you guys will, in the end, cater to the majority of gamers, those that wants everything to die in a split second. *shrug* fingers crossed Last edited by Superbobbybobben#6309 on May 8, 2025, 8:07:54 AM Last bumped on May 8, 2025, 8:02:32 AM

Reading this I admit to skimming the text...
I see a lot from the perspective of a player that made it, has it and experiences the game far differently than I. I am rocking the uber Lightning Spear and not some godly build either. On my end I still struggle barely entering T7. Posts like yours started showing in .1 too about Heralds chaining. The sad thing is people like you are exactly why all these FUN things get destroyed for the masses. This makes me curious ... How much is your account on DIV I bet you have a ton too. I got 1 Div in all this time. But pls continue ruining the fun for us. Im sure you think loot is too easy too. Its always the 1% that is at the far reaches of what a game offers and feels things are too easy and think this is true for every other player. Each time I find my way in a game and start to have a tiny bit of success here comes along the player like you where everything is TOO easy. Go play HC. Dont ruin SC. They made HC FOR YOU. Regarding the UW monitor statement. The game locks the actual interactions to 16:9 area. Sure you can aim and fire and hit things I get it but thats it. So would you like to enforce 4:3 monitors on us all too? Please GGG give difficulty tiers to please these Uber players that are way too chicken to play HC themselves that want HC in SC! My ultrawide monitor part was a joke. GGG promised us slower, meaningful combat, I'm just not seeing it. The masses apparently likes it when all monsters dies in a split second and that's really boring.
Why make two times the same game? The masses can still have PoE 1 if that's what they like. |

I apologize if I seemed harsh it just seems every time Im having fun in a live service game that I am always late to the party because I cannot play as much as I would like then shortly after having fun the devs destroy what I found enjoyable.
Happened in Wow, Destiny, Destiny2, Planetside2 (when it was amazing), Helldivers 2, POE2 .2 (omg) So lived many frustrating nerfhammers But the same driving force always led to the nerfs. The diehards/overachievers that frankly are NOT the majority. It is not possible for the avg player to play 60+ hours per week/weekend. I had that life in vanilla WoW days when I was young. Maybe thats it. Im pushin 60 now and have so much real life that Im almost to why bother. Single player modable games never have this toxic forum or playerbase that would all be instant friends in face to face encounter [Removed by Support] Last edited by ShaunB_GGG#0000 on May 8, 2025, 7:50:28 AM

" So you can`t party with friends in SSF?? I was really looking frd on that, because I don`t want to be dependent on trade :) (POE2 should not be POE1.5, GGG, keep it slower, more tactical)

I still don't get why lightning spear is considered "OP". It honestly sucks compared to the builds that were nerfed after 0.1. It's awkward to use. If you misfire first spear or it doesn't bounce you get ganked by angry mobs while not dealing much damage. Defenses are poor, have to sacrifice lot of potential damage to deal with that. Single target is dog s**t. The people that you see rocking with it on Youtube or top builds on poe ninja all are stuffed with uniques and expensive gear.
If anything the dominance of this lame LS signals that it's time for a round of buffs instead of another nerf round for the next big patch. |

It is, as they say, a matter of taste. I like to oversimplify gamer tastes as offensive and defensive ones. Offensive ones that prefers a high action game, defensive ones that wants a slower pace with more interactions.
PoE 2's tastes seems to revolve around killing monsters and how to kill them, being a trade master that dominates the economy and people that sees this game as an IQ test and makes broken builds. Yeah, these high IQ builds are fun to watch, for a while, but what are we left with, after? The proof that the game is broken. At that point, it's a matter of taste or not. People that cares about balance and people that doesn't. Game companies tends to cater to the majority, to increase profits, and it's why a truly hard game like Elden Ring literally shines like gold among all the rest. I think GGG has the base of a game that can shine as much, they'll just have to be more artistic in the near future and follow a design rather than what the common gamer wants. Why get a new game that's just a graphical upgrade when we can't even appreciate the graphics since all monsters dies instantly before they even show up? |
