Gaining Rage with projectiles

Not sure if intended (doubt it), but with either Chaotic infusion (From Spire of Ire) or infuse weapon (Amazon ascendency), my lightning spear generates rage when I have an infusion. But rage is suppose to only generate on melee hit?
