PoE 1: Do something about the Scion
|
Dear GGG: I'm getting fed up with avoiding the Scion because of her terrible voice over. Either change it back to her original or redo her lines that actually fit the game. The rest of the classes say stuff that fits but the Scion says stupid lines that are plain feminist female dog. This is Path of Exile, not Hot in Cleveland.

Pretty much. I'm just going to have to deal with it by deleting all the StrDexInt.bundle.bin files along with turning off the dialogue. At least I won't hear and see it even though I prefer to have voice overs.

I have a fix...

Then you're not Scion guy. Please, leave this class. This club is for respectable gentlemen who can appreciate her character's strengh. She is romantic, but have an opinion. She is not "feminist". Maybe in old-style meaning. She is not twitter-girl. I like to play her. I've done chapters about ten times in Settlers, and about 5-6 in previous leagues. All my characters since maybe Bestiary were scion. She is best character and true PoE1 main character, I think. Other classes just a random guys, secondary story lines.
It's very sad that there is no talks about Scion in PoE2. I lost myself... Only Mercenary's charisma can patch this wound... but not fully. |

" It's called a woman. They are usually doing things in the different way than men. I like how she walks. She is not muscular, but she is athletic in a feminine way. Just a normie lady, not like goth Witch or true feminist Huntress. Also, her character makes you respect her for being strong despite the challenges she has to face and she never being prepared for in her "girlish" life. In the end, she has a simple choice... |

" Nothing wrong with a curvy female character who knows how to be classically feminine. I'm tired of the cal-arts, half-shaved-pink-haired skin-and-bones look that has been wrecking games since 2014. The witch is a sociopath, the ranger is extremely butch. The scion comes off as very refined and lady-like - pampered and then married off for power and politics. Much like the other deeply flawed heroes in PoE, she responded by murdering her husband on their wedding night. The fish-out-of-water reactions she has to the world the more "low-born" characters are used to is a nice touch on GGG's part. I also like that every exile except the Ranger and the Templar in PoE is basically a terrible person who did awful things. The duelist was a thrill-killer in the arena, addicted to his blood-sport. The Shadow was a murderer for hire. The witch retaliated for the killing of her sister by burning up a house full of kids. The Marauder went on a rampage and slaughtered a bunch of innocent citizens alongside the guards. While some of them were sorely pushed to those extremes by the horrors of Oriath, their own atrocities are not justified. (Even the Ranger and the Templar are flawed - the latter is a pure-strain Darwinian character without an ounce of compassion for her fellow man and the Templar is an absolute religious zealot). That these deeply flawed people come together, despite their darkness, and actually manage some good in the world is a cool story. If you look at their battles in the atlas, they manage to SAVE the entire universe? Complex characters. I like it., Last edited by Sabranic_SilverDeth#2793 on May 19, 2025, 11:14:23 PM

" I can't help but wonder if this is some random account created to generate interaction in the forums when an account started in 2016's highest level is 19 and is complaining about something most people don't pay attention to. Yep, totally over league play.

the only fix scion needs is to remove ascendant and give it 3 like everyone else aristocrat, scavenger and whisperer.

" I have no interest in playing Scion since her ascendancy is a "jack of all trades, master of none" gimmick, but what you described is why I like her as a character. She was born with great potential as a skilled noble, but her fate was to be forcibly married off to another family. She carved out her own destiny through blood and dark magic. I think that's cool. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |
