Endgame lacks purpose
|
I continue to post feedback here more to clear my mind than expect anyone at GGG to read it let alone use it.
For the first time since playing D3 (which I deleted immediately) have I found myself thinking "why am I playing this?" and I think it comes down to lack of purpose in the game. There are no chase items, no power locked behind quests, unique drops are unusable low level base types, and mostly RNG crafting disappointment. It is a grind with no purpose. Never felt that way in the Ruthless grind because there was always something to chase whether it be completing the Atlas for new maps and points or Incursions for gems. I'm still playing because I set my own goal but finding it harder and harder to login. Endgame, crafting and unique drops needs a rethink. The gameplay loop needs more interaction, more quests and rewards and unique bosses to keep us engaged on the journey to the pinnacle bosses. And the pinnacle bosses need to be tied into the story somehow, they just feel tacked on and pointless. Just spitballing some ideas that I think could add more meaning… I'd like to see the Atlas start corrupted and its our job to cleanse it or claim the corruption for ourselves and roleplay as an evil sort of conqueror of the Atlas. Completing a tower as either a corrupted nexus (in the present time) or pre-corruption using Alva in the past as an incursion clears the corruption in the area for us to add our own mechanic and rewards Atlas points. The extra content could depend on whether you claim or cleanse the corruption. Completing it past or present gives different rewards and we need to make a choice. Renly the Smith sends us out to collect craft items, runes etc which he can forge into unique and powerful items. They could be in corrupted or cleansed maps with the reward depending on the state of the corruption. Doryani gives you quests to search and locate items and people that you can use to improve your character power. Little milestones on the journey of the Atlas to keep us entertained and engaged and motivated. At the moment its disappointment after disappointment with the way uniques drop and crafting works and nothing really to keep me motivated and keep going. Just my two cents. As I said, not expecting it to get airtime. I see the potential in PoE2 and want to no-life it. Last edited by GuiltyParty32#9913 on May 5, 2025, 6:08:50 PM Last bumped on May 5, 2025, 4:49:18 PM
