Inexplicable lag/ping spikes
|
Finally had to make a post on this cause it's gotten bad enough to where the game is almost unplayable at times. I get constant ping spikes from a baseline of 20-30 ms to pings in the multiple thousands. Frequent rubberbanding and occasional disconnects to boot. My network and internet access speeds are fine, no other services or games are affected. This has been happening ever since launch, to varying degrees of severity. Peak times seem to be the worst, but that's not always the case, and sometimes it runs perfectly fine (although this has been less common lately).
I've tried many of the graphics/cpu "fixes" that have I've found in searches on this forum, but nothing has worked so far. Server selection makes no difference (except in the baseline ping), even going from NA to EU servers. The only thing I haven't tried yet is swapping to a wired connection from wifi as my PC is pretty far from my network drop, but I may have to go buy a long enough cord tomorrow just to try it. I recognize this post is light on the troubleshooting details, but it seems this isn't a new or unique problem so I figured I'd just add to the chorus to try and keep some attention on it. Well the classic "make a complaint post about it" solution might have worked. A little bit more googling tonight brought me to wifi card troubleshooting - specifically disabling the 2.4G wireless mode under device manager > network adapaters > "wifi card properties" > advanced. I also disabled roaming aggressiveness, but no clue if that did anything too. We'll see if this sticks, just seems odd as it didn't seem to affect anything else using the internet on my computer.
