Sun priests are an example of poe1 design that should be removed
|
A lot of people have complained that they get hit by effects they have never seen coming, usually referring to sun priests, or the casters that throw meteors or explode corpses.
All these mobs are quite easy to deal with if you can see them casting, which in poe1 where you brainlessly just move forward because nothing is threatening is never a problem. But in poe2 things are different, people have to make tactical retreats, not everyone is abusing the broken spec of the patch to just brainlessly be able to kill everything with 0 challenge or thought. Most people who play normal builds have to make tactical retreats, I have a recent example where I was in abyss, was walking towards the last boss marker and clearing some mobs and suddenly a rogue exile appears. Actually they never appear at first, you first see the giant health bar on top and got no idea where they are, they were clearly somewhere mixed behind or around the mobs forward which would be stupid to rush in knowing there's a rogue exile around. So i retreated, the exile followed me along with a few mobs and was able to start clearing the mobs that were coming and deal with the exile, but when I was about to fight the rogue exile a fire laser beam was on top of me, I knew it was from that mob so i just activated convalescence and kept dodging backwards until I got out of range. I survived but only because my build allows me to regen a lot of ES fast. This is the issue here, I never show the sunpriest but he was activated and started casting his ability while he was quite far out of range. This is a problem that would not exist in poe1 where nothing is challenging, this is a problem in poe2 because even white mob swarms can be dangerous. I think the solution for all these is simple, the mobs should not start casting unless they are far closer to you so you are certain you have seen them start casting. https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/Ash-9143/character/Ash_Pierce Last bumped on May 3, 2025, 8:21:38 AM
