Me poisoning a rogue exiles vine arrow plant

I dont know if this is an intentional mechanic, but it does not seem right to me.
It looks like i poisoned a rogue exiles vine arrow plant which then started to ramp up its damage.

If you look at the clip, the plant only started to glow when i started shooting.
