Rarity is not noticeable enough

Talking from a casual perspective here, SSF, 93 ritualist fire mage.

I go into maps, kill everything, do extra content, repeat. Now that i finished my atlas points I am just going around towers to try boost the areas with cool buffs.

One of the most important issues I feel is the fact that rarity for the average casual player is just not really a noticeable stat. I know metaslaves do ridiculous things like max it out in gear, towers, atlas points and group farm for currency but that's not average.

We just do maps here, if a map has a boss and a lot of buffs it might be worth using that map with extra rarity affix.

Problem is I dont notice any difference, there's some maps that can give decent gear drops, there's maps that dont.

There's maps where i input a high rarity map and get nothing of note, and then i do another map without rarity and i get more currency and good rewards

I dont really have a solution, just stating an issue. I feel for rarity to be valuable it needs to be quite noticeable, maybe guarantee some rare drops after X rarity % or something

To me it seems that each map has a hidden random rarity tier stat to begin with. And if that rolled badly no amount of rarity on waystones, gear, towers can completely compensate for that. You may still get something decent but you can tell something is off because it drops inbetween a ton of regal shards.

On a side note i've run a few destilled maps after the g patch and if anything they now give less loot than non destilled maps. Not sure what's up with that.
