Can't get ascendancy points! Xbox PoE2

I skipped sekhemas and went straight to trials of chaos. I did trial of chaos and received 2 points. Then I did trial of sekhemas 4 times and the quest says "use the altar of ascendancy to obtain ascendancy passive skill points" but it does not allow me to interact with the altar or the purple portal. There is no names above either and no way to interact. So I'm pretty screwed and cannot get ascendancy points.
