POE needs to rethink defense overall (Armour and Evasion specifically)

I think there comes a point where some systems are needlessly overcomplicated for the sake of being overcomplicated.
It feels like defense in POE 1 and 2 is like this, and its always felt this way, even in POE 1. Energy Shield is often considered the superior defensive option, because people have figured out the mechanics of it, how to scale it, how to tweak the mechanics around it, etc. But when it comes to armour, people have to learn the hard way its only for little hits. For evasion, its even worse, as people don't know its an entropy system and once it expires, how do you mitigate being one shot? Even worse are the hybrid classes that use a mix of the 2 - there's no real synergy. Evasion/energy shield or armour/energy shield? Most builds just ignore one stat and toss everything into energy shield, because its the only one that MAKES SENSE. Done right, it feels right and protects you (but doesn't make you feel invincible - you still need to know what you are doing). And Armour/Evasion just feels pointless. Armour and Evasion feel punitive by comparison. This is NOT a call to nerf energy shield to make it just as bad as the other 2 options. Rather, Energy Shield is the only thing that feels RIGHT. Can we PLEASE get Armour and Evasion revisited? IF Evasion uses an entropy system, then there SHOULD be late game options to protect against that one big hit. IF Armour is just for small hits normally, there SHOULD be something that allows protection of the occasional one BIG hit. AND, for the Hybrids, it SHOULD make sense. Evasion/Energy Shield? Then Energy Shield should be what mitigates the one BIG hit, but at the cost of slower recharge. Armour/ Energy Shield? Same deal. And what of Armour/Evasion? Armour should then be what is able to mitigate that one BIG hit, but with some sort of catch as well locked behind mechanics. My point is, these defensive systems should be STRAIGHTFORWARD. People shouldn't need a PHD to understand what they do, and how to get them to work right. Players should be concerned with stacking VALUES on these defenses to get them to levels that can take on higher content - NOT with whether to use these options in the first place - the characters in both games that have the best defenses tend to have ALL THREE defensive options, PLUS extra mechanics from keystones. Defenses shouldn't be THAT complicated. NO ONE is going to be on a warrior, on that side of the tree, and say "oh, I need to go get ENERGY SHIELD so I can have proper defenses" - it doesn't make SENSE. Please - re-evaluate defenses in POE 2. I have nothing against mechanics or keystones that add unique defensive layers that MAKE SENSE for the area of the tree a character is in, but the way defense is currently is NOT FUN, in either POE game. Or, just give us back Grim Feast in its current state UNTIL they actually fix and rework it. THEN take it away and replace it with the nerfed version. There was no reason to take it away other than to force the players to suffer with the subpar defensive system. Which is probably what they wanted anyway. Both the suffering and to force players to looking into other defensive options. Which are all garbage btw.

armor will surely be fixed
armor stacking will surely be a thing they are leaving excitement for later. best not run out of excitement so soon. `Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL

" Lol. It took GGG 10 years to fix melee in PoE1 and much of that was simply by making defensive layers actually function and be worth considering heavily investing into. 10 years... Right now we have Mr. "we don't know what's wrong with armour" and "face tanking a boss is demoralizing" running the show. I'm tired boss. |

They have had 10 years to get it rihgt in PoE 1
You think they COULD of learn from that and do a good system in PoE 2 I feel, they do not really care and Poe 2 is just to milk the whales who buy all the cosmetics and do not give a damn about the rest of the players |
