Acolyte of Chayula Darkness vs ground effects

I've noticed that my chayula monk's darkness buffer is almost instantly consumed by ground effects. I thought something was off a couple of times, and then I specifically confirmed it with the "circle of fire" mod that some rares have.

My suspicion is that Darkness does not benefit from resistances.
