Any chance for a new PoE1 league in the next 30 years?

Just curious if PoE1 is just officially dead now or if we will actually get a new league sometime in this lifetime.

Settlers League was far worse than I think most people realised. Chris had stated on numerous occasions that they’d be multiple leagues ahead of the league that’s currently live, which is one of the reasons why it seemed to take them so long to learn lessons; the next few leagues had been designed prior to those lessons being learned. So PoE 1 was abandoned to the extent they ran through several leagues and then had a year-long farce. I mean… that’s just hilariously awful.

So we can infer from that that they’ve basically just taken a two-year-long break from giving a damn about PoE 1, which doesn’t inspire confidence for the future. Even if 3.25 ends up going down in history as being especially bad, it’s hard to imagine them ever returning to their previous challenge league release cadence. If PoE 1 isn’t dead, it’s sure as hell on life support.

Based on what we’ve seen, I wouldn’t be surprised if - going forwards - PoE 1 challenge leagues both shrank in scope and were reduced in frequency. Maybe this will look like a single modern-sized league & expansion per year, and one smaller (Breach-style?) league six months later? I just think that’s where we are now and we have to come to terms with that…

I think that may be optimistic.

Personally, I think Jonathan wanted to scrap 1 altogether on full release of 2, and may still, but given the poor reception of the changes since 0.1, it's probably up in the air.

I imagine 1 will get a modicum of support going forward as long as it's bringing in cash

There is still alot of players that play POE1 and prefer it over POE2, if they scraped POE1 IMO would be GGG's downfall.

Considering all the OG crew are leaving they F****D the pooch and its over. If mark leaves might as well just delete POE1.

I was initially happy for chris but now it seems he has sold us all out without caring what happened to the game he made, the people who played and or supported it. No words of parting, nothing. GGG really is now just a generic "AAA" studio pumping out crud for profit.

Id love to see even one of you make a game even half as good as Path Of Exile. 1 or 2. It just wouldn't happen. So how about you pick your toys up, put them back in the cot, stop throwing little kiddie tantrums, pull your socks up and have some patience. All you look like is a bunch of Moaning Merveil's
