Ascendancy Points post 0.2.0

I have some issues with how the progression for the points is going after the 0.2.0. Before, we actually had a progression -> Trial of Sekhmet = 2 points -> Trial of Chaos = 2 points -> next 2 points either 3 rooms Sekhmet or 7 rooms Chaos -> last 2 points either 4 rooms Sekhmet or 10 rooms into Trial master. Now the last 4 points are locked behind 4 rooms Sekhmet and 10 rooms Trial master which just removed the progression curve completely from 4->6->8 and instead just goes straight into endgame difficulty between 4 and 8 points. The last 2 points were already kind of a pain to grind pre 0.2.0 but now it's just not fun anymore whatsoever and feels more like a chore than an actual challenge with a good progression behind it. Aside from that, this delays the progression in power by quite a bit as you miss out on 2 points within the Ascendancy tree between mid to late endgame. Now i can't confirm every class but for the Huntress at least those 2 points feel like they're missing in the progression curve from mid to late endgame. 1st Ascendancy
Trial of Sekhemas - quest Balbala's Barya or 1st floor in any Djinn Barya. Trial of Chaos - quest Ultimatum or 4 trials in any ultimatum. 2nd Ascendancy Trial of Sekhemas - 2 floor in Djinn Barya lvl 45+. Trial of Chaos - quest Ultimatum or 7 trials in ultimatum lvl 60+. 3rd Ascendancy Trial of Sekhemas - 3 floor in Djinn Barya lvl 60+. Trial of Chaos - 10 trials in ultimatum lvl 75+. 4th Ascendancy Trial of Sekhemas - 4 floor in Djinn Barya lvl 75+ (Zarokh, the Temporal). I would like to know where in the progression curve ascendancies are even supposed to fall. First 3 ascendancies are easy. The difficulty level for 4th ascendancy however is so high you pretty much have to have an almost finished character/build to even attempt it.
Imho ascendancies should be something that will allow you to tackle higher tier maps and bosses not something at the very end. |

While I'm sure the DEVs have different thoughts I'd prefer something similar to PoE1 in terms of when you ascend.
1st Ascension : Level 35 ish? (Late act 2??) 2nd: Level 50ish? (A2 Cruel?) 3rd: Level 65 ish? (Roughly end-of-campaign gearing / level or early maps) 4th: Level 85 ish? (Just before you start trying to hit end-game??) To be honest though if there are four ascensions then I'd like at least a choice of FOUR different sets of trials. Leaving in Sekhemas & Chaos actually make sense to me as those trials (mostly) stress different parts of the build. Sekhemas is about burst damage & HIT (damage) avoidance. Chaos is about screenwide, consistent damage WITH lots of mitigation & recovery As for the two new ascension trials maybe have a modified LAB from PoE2 come back which stresses ailment avoidance, ailment mitigation, and recovery WITH a curated boss fight at the end of any lab. For the final ascension trial maybe have a highly modified ToTA where you act as general of a team of minions (that you build / select) and you are responsible for having them guard your base AND attack an enemy base. Last I wouldn't mind seeing a "Hey I'm playing the game" type of catchall. If you can beat all of the "Tier 0" end-game bosses maybe that should qualify you to get all of your ascension points even if you didn't bother getting any earlier. 1 ascendancy i completing at 23-25 lvl in act 2 2 ascendancy at 34-38 in act 3 3 ascendancy in sekhem at 70-75 4 zarok at lvl 85+ |
