EU Server Issues and punishing POE2 default behaviour

EU Server issues are well-known at this point. But the defaults of the game are way too punishing as it kicks you out. I have felt it most on two occasions

1) When I had just started my first T15 map, I DCed and lost the T15 waystone as well as the nice map modifiers I was looking forward to. Sucks but 50k Gold and few orbs later this was ok

2) Far worse, I had just found 3 citadels collected the fragments and started the T0 Arbiter fight and DCed. This also kicks you out and the fragments are lost. This is a multi-div loss in the current economy (which I can't afford) or now have to begin the long process of gathering them again.

Can GGG make changes here so that the DC is not so punishing. Make me not want to even try to play anymore
