The Red Vale

This location's story is I think a little too far removed from the grounded fantasy of Path of Exile's setting.

The idea is, that this place had so many Ezomyte soldiers die, that they all just lay down and their armor and gear rusted away and turned the ground and the soil and the water and everything permanently red.

This took me out of the game a big because the idea of it is... it could work if it were a myth within the game world and not actually true, but you go to the Red Vale and there's literally a boss called The Rust King and he's some sort of guy that fights you with rusty weapons and so on.

In practical terms it doesn't make any sense. I can explain what I mean via dialogue you get in the game itself:

So just like Finn here, no one ever thought hey that's a lot of valuable loot, let's strip all the corpses? The army the Ezomytes were actually fighting (not described in the game) surely would have done something with all that gear, right? In real life, on the battlefield, if you slew a knight, often you'd keep his armor as a trophy or just to even use if it was in good condition, or that armor would be used by someone else that needed it, or something like that.

There'd be SOMETHING done with it. It wouldn't just sit there FOREVER, even if the victorious army didn't loot the corpses, someone would come in and strip the corpses.

I don't know, I just think that someone thought up the idea for The Red Vale but didn't think about it hard enough before it got put into the game.
