Early Experience Huntress Semi-Unhelpful feedback
|
So, I tried the huntress and can't even be bothered really to try to get past the first act. Just generally does not feel good I can't put my finger on what feels bad exactly but to me she felt slow for a dex build and underpowered in the start experience this may be fixed later in the game but those first few skill options feel really bad even if visually pleasing. It's cool to make a whirlwind then have twisters come from it, but the whirlwind doesn't really last long enough to do much with. Once again probably solved in late game, but early game experience is just as important if not more important then late game experience because that is the hook, and it really feels this character is missing the hook.

I'm playing Huntress with Monk Staff and Spear Warrior at the moment and I feel I can help solidify your argument.
Initially, I wanted to play Spear Huntress, but noticed something off immediately. All of the level 1 gems were organized in a closed in loop centred around Frenzy Charges, similarly to how the Monk's first level burst mechanic is tied to Power Charges. In huntress case, the combo for clearing map is super slow. You have to wait to build up a large tornado with whirlwind before releasing it with twister and the end result is a worse version of spamming sparks while inside a firewall equipped with the fortress support gem. Explosive spear is definitely crap if you are like me and can't parry mobs effectively. The only good level 1 skill from Huntress is Disengage. The level 3 skill gems for Huntress are better designed for the levelling process, with Rake and Storm Lance being considered top picks. Except for Ranger and maybe Mercenary (can't speak for Mercenary, because I don't play it), all the weapon based classes (Monk, Huntress, Warrior) seem to have terrible level 1 gems which aren't worth the effort of crafting them. |

Going casually here just to remember the huntress showcase 4 years ago.
Check youtube and you might cry thinking what was shown and what was delivered... (And I didn't even tried huntress yet... ) |

" What they showed was on a build of the game that was on easy mode+, in regards to both Huntress and Druid gameplay. What we have, is a ranged weapon that can be used with shields and benefits 2 weapon sets gameplay style (which is a niche way of playing the game currently). We also received a better version of Lighting Monk Staff, in a build of the game that is lacking in fire spells which are viable for end game content. When also considering the fact, Lighting Monk Staff was fine and in need of a few tweaks at most. And as far as I can tell, we got the easiest melee build that specializes in physical damage so far, (Rake+Blood Hunt+Blood Herald). Last edited by draco359#5475 on Apr 12, 2025, 5:43:51 PM
