Spear incoming nerf
well Spear certainly will get nerfed, i was quite sure of that anyway. and just now i skipped through this video someone shared with me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Yj7VDCRoyk
and while i lack the experience to actually judge in more detail, i do fully expect Woolie to not have made some shenanigans (i.e. running low tier for his gear) just to boost his ego. thus i take it at face value, at least for now. and all i'm asking of GGG is to try and balance it in a way, that doesn't require a change to attack speed, or the cooldown of disengage. lemme elaborate: in ranged we have slow (crossbow) and fast (bow), as well as magic stuff in melee we have slow (mace), medium-fast (quarterstaff) and fast (spear). i would love it if we can keep it this way pls? i would like to advocate for a multitude of playstyles. it's no bad thing when not everyone likes everything, quite the contrary. this would imply so we have a multitude of playstyles that can be served in this one game. that'd be awesome! seeing the amount of weapons/classes/ascendancies that will be added in the future, i just would love to have many possibilities to serve as many playstyles and ppl-preferences, so that we all can be happy somehow. yes a big task, but that's what i wish for all of us. and this ties back to the spear: yes GGG look at my stats, i know my build is horrible. my top priority is attack speed, because i wanna have fun, i wanna enjoy it. and i very much do! i like the high risk high reward tryhard playstyle. if i play perfect, i'm invincible, if i screw up just once, i'm dead. that suits me perfect. pls don't ruin that? i'm sure i cannot be the only one enjoying this, even though we may not be as many as casuals. heck i even cripple myself during the entire campaign on all characters so far. i'm not using any uniques, i'm not using a support gem tier that i haven't found yet on a specific character, and i on purpose do not spam the same skills, like Spear Field. the latter would just make me uninstall the game out of boredom. however, if anyone likes to play a proper (yes i said that) melee dot build, that actually is meleeing and not just spamming spear field, disengage is absolutely crucial for survival. increasing it's cooldown would kinda singlehandedly shut down that entire playstyle. that'd be so horrible :'( same goes for attack speed. the reason i can survive while dancing a circle around the enemies, is because of attack speed and disengages scaling of that. so if you can make it anyhow possible to balance the spear without ruining my/our tryhard playstyle, please do so. it's the only thing i like so far in this game (can't wait for daggers to be released!) pls try to serve many playstyles, that'd be so awesome! i mean you're quite far into that direction already, and i freaking love it. -stat builds (minion or gemling type) -all around solid (i.e. a titan, or witchhunter or stuff like that that will work for most ppl) -tryhard build (melee dot) and just for clarification: melee dot is a bad place to start with. ideally being melee (actual melee, not spamming Spear Field), you do want the exact opposite of a slow-dmging dot. you wanna kill them quickly before they can hit you back. so you must put in a lot of skill and effort to make melee-dot work, but my gosh if you do it's so amazing. i dreamed of melee dot for years and almost no game has that. it truely is a dream come true for me personally. it's freaking awesome, thx you're the best for giving me that!! i'm so in love with it *.* but it most certainly is not what most ppl will excel at, heck many ppl might even find it a dumb idea to be melee yet dot based. pls keep it anyway, it's so good! i honestly am in sorrow so the only thing i actually like in this game will get removed because casuals. i'm trying not to rant here, it's just how it always went in the past. us few weirdos suffer for the sake of casuals in most games for oh so many reasons. :/ btw: i love basic attacking. it's so rewarding to line up your stabs, while being forced to be constantly on the move. this constant adjustment to position, while having an eye out on the "dangerous" enemies, is such a difficult and rewarding thing to do. and so much combat-depth is lost solely by not using basic attacks. but i like it, very much. so in case you actually do check my stats (i recommend GGG, my time defeating bosses went more and more down the further i got in the campaign, it just got easier and easier, although that certainly is skewed by crippling myself aswell as not caring about "strong" build but "fun" build (attack speed all the way!)) my experience was a very weak sluggish start, that eventually scaled over the top. but again, i certainly have skewed this by priorizing fun > strength pls -add "Advanced Targeting System" to the options so we can disable accessibility-stuff -fix skills w/o movement to NOT MOVE YOU when using Attack Without Moving i.e. Ice Strike -rework: enemies instant-spells = math-game || very unfitting for meaningful combat cuz can't avoid with skill thx <3 Last edited by Naztrey#9177 on Apr 11, 2025, 2:24:33 PM Last bumped on Apr 11, 2025, 3:02:44 PM

example:
adding CD to spear field wouldn't kill the playstyle, but it certainly would need big adjustments to dmg and/or number of spears per cast. lowering attack speed of spear field would mean i can no longer use it. i simply can not waste any more time. i'm constantly disengaging over enemies, throwing down a spear field, raking another guy, and just always on the flow. making changes to attack speed kills that too and why am i so keen about Spear Field specifically? well because i had in-game convos in the past few days with ppl, that do precisely that. they spam spear field 24/7 and that's that. i'm sure GGG doesn't like that, and already is talking about it behind closed doors. after all they have the data anyway. just trying to get my 2 cents into their convo, so they try to respect us few tryhards aswell :) share some love <3 pls -add "Advanced Targeting System" to the options so we can disable accessibility-stuff -fix skills w/o movement to NOT MOVE YOU when using Attack Without Moving i.e. Ice Strike -rework: enemies instant-spells = math-game || very unfitting for meaningful combat cuz can't avoid with skill thx <3 Last edited by Naztrey#9177 on Apr 11, 2025, 2:40:08 PM

" not getting light-stunned all the time is a big plus in my book. armour does precisely that with trash mobs. hey if you can live without armour, great for you! i can not, i'm always too close and zipping around. i need that light-stun protection :) pls
