strength requirement for spears

Hey there,

I think spears should not have Strength requirements. Huntress is the 2nd pure Dex class and it really doesnt follow any design pattern. So far all weapons require the Attributes that are related to the base class. Why should it be different to spears?

What do you guys think?

Sorry but i do not get your argument, why is being a hybrid make a difference here?

If you refer to melee weapons should have strength requirement: Quarterstaves do not have and i am very confident that daggers will also not.

Huntress is not a hybrid class, duelist and mercenary are the str/dex hybrid class, POE2's classes are all six class other than scion from the first game and six more to each stat type (whether or not there is a new scion and the old one coming, I do not know), it's really easy to figure out that part just look at the tree.

However, making spears having str requirement is fine, because spears are a weapon type mainly doing proj and melee attack, two attack type associated with dex and str.

Stat problem is only a problem because of two things, 1 you can't get enough stats from tree alone, a dex character around level 85 take no str and no int somehow cannot equip the best bow base unless take some dex on gear, that is just simply stupid. 2, there is no crafting to make progression smoother, you can't craft easy stats on gear to met requirement for your new upgrade. Ofc you can trade, but does not solve the problem especially in a league start or SSF.

my only gripe here is: spear requirement: str + dex

spear skills requirement: pure dex

just get it together because if i have to go fully into dex to use the skills i should not need another stat to use the weapon

That is a flawed argument. Monk is purely melee and has no strength requirement.

come to hc you'll be glad for a reason to plug STR nodes

joking but you are right if needing to get dex from gear just to use skill gems that feels sort of bad.

I kinda agree that spears shouldn't have STR requirements, Huntress/Ranger are the pure DEX classes.

Btw Monk is a DEX/INT class so it not having a STR requirement makes sense.

Yeah i guess it is quite clear, hope they reconsider that decision.

Shows how little you know bleed procs rely on str for their damage and as my Huntress is pure melee i only stack dex for evasion
