Cannot destroy glacial bolt crystals with grenades

My assumption was that I can destroy my own ice crystals to cause them to explode.
If I have some Ice crystal walls with 2.5k life and I throw some explosive grenades at them which have an estimated damage per use of 12.7k the crystals will not explode. Even with multiple grenades this will not happen.

First I thought it might be an hitbox issue but even if I spawn the crystals on top of the grenades they will not shatter

Yeah its pretty disappointing and feels less synergy options among crossbow skills
