I have to greatly disagree with your interview response. I don't enjoy nuking bosses, I don't necessarily want to screen clear. What I enjoy and I'd assume there are others out there as Ziz pointed out is that I can sit and go toe to toe with a big bad and take the hits.
I'm not saying I should be able to repeatedly take all the boss hits back to back. But I hate dying to one shot abilities that only focus on what your reaction time is. To me taking 5 minutes on a boss and living through the attacks is more fun then spending 10 seconds nuking the boss without it reacting, or even 1 minute. Hope you change your mind on Defense because there are players who play your game that wished there were more options. Last bumped on Apr 9, 2025, 1:15:47 AM

Issue is that Ziz was using the "final" endgame content Arbiter as example of him getting oneshot.
I think him asking the hardest content in the game to allow errors is bit of stupid. Maybe he just isn't good enough to do that content? It happens. My interpretation of that topic (during the Interview w/ GGG reps):
I should "shift" my mindset on "melee < ranged". Why? Main points ("paraphrasing" the quotes from the Interview): 1. GGG: "Generally folks enjoy offensive over defensive, folks prefer glass cannons over being immortal" (see the stats on the number of players who play spark, etc - the classes/builds that are dominating [0.1]) 2. GGG: "'Apocalyptic/Universe' change, to have it more attrition-based gameplay, via flasks/life-regen, but not "true tanking" (too difficult to change) 3. GGG: "Being Immortal is basically just like as bad as the top 1% Glass Cannon builds that are dominating the stats" (Full Defense/Tank vs Full Offense/Damage) 4. GGG: "You avoid 1-shot from bosses or strong mobs, and you get 1-hit and lose ~30%-99% of life, then you use flask and run away and life-regen" (this point has some overlap to point #2 above too) TLDR: will simply have to accept this fact, i.e. not "true Tanking" (and "melee < ranged")...life-regen/roll/charge post-large damage hit will be the way to go....oh well....it is what it is...RIP D2 barb/paladin Tank Fantasy....not the worst and understand that it's just too much work to change... -- still Looking Forward to 0.2+ (0.3) - stick to the vision, GGG!
