PoE2: Dawn of the Hunt - Sticking with My Old Character... What Do I Need to Know?!

Hi everyone!

I'm returning to Path of Exile 2 after a long break. I have a character that I've been playing since December 2024. I know that the new Dawn of the Hunt update has been released, and I have a few questions to make sure I understand what has changed.

Access to New Content: If I play with my old character, will I still have access to the new endgame maps, endgame mechanics like Azmerian Wisps and Rogue Exiles, and the changed Towers on the Atlas (reduced number but increased power)?

Will I miss any key mechanics? If I decide to play the old character, will I miss any important elements outside of the fresh economy of the new league?

I want to make sure I don't miss any key elements of the game by deciding to continue playing with my old character. If any of you have experience with the new update, please help!

You won't miss anything content wise.

As far as your character goes, it's hard to tell without knowing what build you played.
It is more than likely that it will not work anymore, so you'll have to tweak your build / gear in order to be able to progress.

Expect your passive tree, atlas tree and potentially atlas to be reset

Two other things to keep in mind:

This means a new league. So unless a good majority of others remain in standard, you will have some trouble if you are playing in a trade league, unless you are like alot of us and farmed up for just this scenario.

Secondly, depending on what your build is, chances are it's useless.

Every character I made, except possibly my Pathfinder, is absolutely useless now.

Four 90+ characters I need to rebuild from the ground up... or more than likely just abandon for the new league.
