Stuck on Kingsmarch Rank Upgrades
I upgraded Mining Rank 2 before upgrading Recruitment Rank 2.
![]() ![]() However, I can't obtain Rank 2 ores. As a result, I can't make any progress to upgrade other ranks. I searched for a solution in this thread (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3534357), but there are no answers. Other rank upgrades seem to require a specific Recruitment Rank. " Miners do not create ore out of nothing. They mine ore that you have marked. You mark ore by completing Settlers encounters as your progress through the campaign, or in maps. When you activate a large red pillar and destroy the Corrupted Growths around it, you are doing a Crimson Iron encounter. An Orichalcum encounter will have you touch a demonic shrine, then kill the demons that spawn around it. |

You may begin finding Orichalcum encounters around Prisoner's Gate in Act 1. You may not be able to find them before defeating Brutus (not positive of the area level cutoff, but this was my experience). It is of course random which encounter is found in any given area, but you should find multiple Orichalcum deposits in the latter half of Act 1.
You should be able to progress and eventually find and mine orichalcum deposits. Your mining rank enables you to find both Crimson Ore and Orichalcum. It also permits up to five miners that could be ANY worker. You do not need rank 2 miners to farm Orichalcum. The rank of a worker determines how long they take to complete a task (correspondingly how many ore they can mine or how many crops they can farm per hour). The type of ore being mined has no requirement for any particular rank of worker. It does affect how long mining operations take. You can even mine or farm with workers who have some occupation other than mining -- they will have an effectiveness / mining rate that is half what a specialized worker would be. As long as you have at least one resource assigned to mining, they will mine the Orichalcum ore that you mark in your progression. If a worker is assigned to Orichalcum, they will preferentially mine that first. If there is no ore marked of the type assigned to your workers, they will mine other available ores. This applies to smelting as well: having a worker assigned to smelt any ore type will enable them to smelt all ore types once their assigned ore is depleted. This was the issue that caught some players off-guard in Settlers, as they enabled smelting an ore type before buying all upgrades requiring that unsmelted ore. |
