can the Essence Drain Dot Crit in Path of exile 2 crit?

Can essences drain's Dot crit?

The skill shows a crit chance for the damage over time effect, however after picking a node for critical hit chance, the dps of the Dot didn't change and I can't make out a differnce in damage.

There is also a weird interaction when comparing the damage on +chaos damage nodes. It only shows a higher damage for the projectile of essence drain eventhough the Dot is also effected by the +chaos damage node.

It's really frustrating, because I don't know if my idea for a build is valid or not.

The crit chance shouldn't even be mentioned for the Dot then it's just confusing.
