End game atlas Biomes
In the current state of the Atlas it's always the same: mountains, forest, grass, desert, and swamp.
they are relatively the same size, meaning you will never run into a bigger area of desert or a big grass land or swamp. This results in you getting the same maps over and over and over with little to no choice in what area or types of maps you want to run. I think it would improve the current iteration of the atlas if the biomes were larger. Picture you exploring the map, then you could run into a bigger desert biome, then if those are the maps you like then you could improve that area of the map with towers and tablets. if you don't like desert you could move in another direction and avoid those maps in hopes of maybe finding a bigger grass biome. overall I think a bigger change needs to happen to make the atlas more enjoyable, but I feel like in the meantime this could help the current situation with a smaller change, if this is a smaller change. I would tend to go a step farther that IF we keep the existing Atlas system that biomes are also infinite so if grass [or desert or whatever] is what you like you never need to leave that biome.
Maybe even some Atlas nodes that convert nodes in the fog to your favored biome?? I'm sure there are better ways to run the style of maps we want to run without the feel of having "slog time" running layouts we hate ... to get to Towers that we don't necessarily care about ... so we can hopefully buff the nodes we want to run in some fashion. Honestly I'd prefer PoE1's atlas system over PoE2. PoE2 is cool on paper but so far in reality I don't care for it. I'd happily trade being able to sustain 1-2 "favorite" maps + Sextants + Scarabs + Fragments [or whatever] so I can juice the maps the way I want without slogging through bad layouts, towers, etc. |
