Player Choice - Precursor Tablets Should Read “X Maps OF CHOICE Within Range Contain Y Encounters”

Problem: Lack of player agency on mapping creates unnecessary frustration and an arduous process to set up zones. In particular, apparently not every map type can host a boss.

Solution: Allow players to select the maps they want to add activities to or irradiate. Players will still have to path to the maps with the activity and the towers to set them up.

Story Time: Today I had off from work and spent all day clearing a zone around a tower that had corruption and irradiated. I am only at 6 of 10 map boss atlas points so I wanted to boost the level of those areas to hopefully obtain my next “Boss Tree” atlas points.

After playing an ungodly amount of maps I didn’t want to play to create player choice after installing a boss precursor tablet and finally getting it down to only 7 maps within range of the tower I planned to use, I attempted to install the tablet and was greeted with a warning.

WARNING
This tower can only add Map Boss to 3 maps in range, even though this tablet can add up to 7
Are you sure you want to proceed?

This is when fear struck and I realized I may have wasted an entire day.

The two maps I was most concerned about were blooming field and sandspit.

- blooming field was given a map boss
- sandspit was not

Bottom Line: Players are having to go through great lengths to apply activities to maps they desire them on. Additionally it is not explained that certain activities can only be applied to certain maps. Providing player choice on precursors by allowing the selection of maps would respect player time, reduce the amount of frustration, and give the game an opportunity to explain to the player if an activity can be added to a location or not.
