Infernalist gets everything while blood mage starves
Lets see what the infernalist got from GGG and compare it to what our blood witch got :
Infernalist has 16 active fire spells she can use. 2 of them are ACTIVE badass skills in the ascendancy tree itself. 3 are from weapons. 11 are from skill gems. Blood mage has 2 active blood spells (EDIT : or apparently 0 because the website i saw them on added them from POE1... So the blood mage has 0 blood magic spells...) The only thing she got from the ascendancy tree is 1 barely noticeable passive. To make matters worse, the game teases us by giving our enemies plenty of blood spells, Faridun Plaguebringers for example has a corpse detonation we as a blood witch should have. Please give the witch actual blood spells in the form of skill gems. Even if they are copies from the monsters. Eh? Blood witch can use literally any spell you want. The ability to force any spell in game to 15% base crit chance is wildly monstrous, and if you were already using a spell that has 15% base crit the ability to double dip (or with unique gear selection tripple dip) es and life can produce a monstrous health pool that then scales final crit damage.
Don't want to crit? why not go "anything bleeds" and apply the heaviest dot in game with some easy to use super-heavy hits like flame blast, comet or storm conduit? Both infernalist and blood witch have a wide diversity of builds they can do, and both of them require heavily specialized gear and build choices to survive their downsides. I would partially agree that blood remnants could use a bit of tuning so they are more useable, but beyond that I can't agree at all that "infernalist has everything while bloodmage has nothing". In many ways bloodmage is far more diverse than infernalist - try figuring out a martial skills build with infernalist, I promise you it doesn't work at all. Edit: Okay I can think of exactly one, hammer of the gods timed around ignite threshold on infernal flame. Pretty tough ask though considering you have to either manage the flame, or set up to absorb the overflows...not to mention that you could also do hammer of the gods with the witch's roomie the chronomancer and run around bonking things repeatedly. You just dont get it.
Its not about usability its about the theme. A blood mage should get blood spells. As a blood mage i want to use blood magic. |

The stylistic design of bloodmage is that she turns literally everything she does into blood magic.
I can get on board with some vaal blood spells though...can we get a +1 on importing exsanguinate and reap from poe1? :) Wouldnt say no to the big chungus blood ball that trialmaster likes to lob around in trial of chaos either; player spawned blood patches would be new and fun to work with. Imagine eye of winter picking up bleed floor: everything about that concept pleases me. Blood for the blood god! Last edited by Bigwilleh#1842 on Jan 19, 2025, 4:10:30 PM

" Isnt that already in the game? according to this : https://pathofexile2.wiki.fextralife.com/Skill+Gems I havent seen it yet but i stopped playing at the beginning of act 3 so i assumed it'd unlock there. Also " Then make it look like it is infused with blood magic because right now its nowhere to be seen. Empowering turns some skills blue (Which IMO completely ruins the grim/dark witch experience, especially with the zombies as they turn from nice gory mess to christmass trees...), they should do the same thing with blood magic where the skills get nice blood red effect around them. " They are not currently. " I can get on board with that; however, that is a task for the animation department, and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that the animation department bit off WAYYYY way more than they can chew when they committed to import all of the existing PoE1 cosmetics into PoE2 on top of adding new ones that will be compatible with both - a policy which I firmly support but also a monumentally large task because thats committing to re-doing 10 years worth of model rigging work on twice as many models. Tl:dr I like it, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. |

" Yes, im very well aware, and they still have 6 more classes to finish. My plan isnt to get it immediately, what i intend to do is keep posting about this so that they put it on their "to do" list. And maybe eventually i could play it far in the future. But if nobody talks about it, nobody says anything or points it out, then the chance of it happening are literally 0. Someone has to speak up about it. Playable blood mages are EXTREMELY rare in games so i will fight for any and all scraps i can get. Hell even a game where the entire world's story line is centered about blood magic had literally close to no blood magic whatsoever (talking about dragon age). This is how bad it is for us blood mages. Last edited by nabak1996#0882 on Jan 19, 2025, 4:49:04 PM
