The 4+ layers of RNG and why its killing my interest
I'll make this short, but where some endgame activities are simple, guaranteed with farming to give you something back. Like Breach or Delirium. There are also areas that are so locked behind RNG it becomes a complete chore to farm. Expeditions being my main gripe, but also ritual and Sekemas to some extent.
Its RNG to if a book drops, RNG if that book contains a boss, RNG if the boss even drops something good, then its RNG if that good drop even has the stats you want in the case of the jewel. Honestly think it would be leaps and bounds better to make pages drop, similar to splinters, and when you get enough to make a book, that book just has the boss. I fully understand the game operates through randomness, however it shouldn't be ALL random. It doesn't help that expedition, boss aside, doesn't have anything really going for it that you can't just get elsewhere. Not to mention the artifacts are pennies and there is no real need to farm them. To address Ritual and Sekamas, Ritual being made a bit better this patch didn't really solve the issue of the boss item being annoying to find, but at least it is what it says it is and the boss is guaranteed when you get the item. Sekemas being an hour long run to RNG get the item you'll need to then do another hour long run to get what you want is really frustrating. Especially if that 2 hour long run is cut short due to bad room RNG. I said I'd make this short, but it reached medium there, TLDR: I'd like it more if the layers of RNG were more consistent with the time investment across the board with other endgame systems. Rather than some being functionally infinite and others being 2+ hours for a single try at loot. Last bumped on Mar 24, 2025, 1:03:01 PM

Im experiencing this right now - 50 expedition logbooks lvl 79/80 and barely seeing any boss... Hops in , see no boss, hops out repeat
The time gate RNG is unbelievably distasteful and making me want to quit. |

940h and the only book of knowledge I am missing is the 8/8 expedition. Did not use tablets though. The reason behind that decision is a whole different story. Bought 4 audiences for 12 div(!) just to try and see, if that makes a difference for omen drops with the atlas passives available. It did not. Only I got my investment back in audience drops. They increased drastically. At least the atlas did not seem to give me more omens with points spent different. On top there are more layer of rng. You did not mention corruption. I do not state that all this rng is a bad thing per se. But what bugs me is the unproportional time gating everywhere, monkey was talking about.
