Idea: Courage, a duo-stun recovery/immunity game and combat system
Being stunned in this game is very bad.
I believe there should be a rage-like system for stun avoidance and recovery. I believe it will add some extra gameplay elements that might make the game more interesting. Current stun level doesn't degenerate on players. Players with courage gain chance to avoid gaining stun from hits, from 0->100% chance to avoid gaining stun from hits when at full courage (100% is essentially a temporary stun immunity). This is a yellow/whiteish bar next to life. After not gaining courage for some period of time (lets say 8 seconds), courage wears off over time and the stun immunity goes away, instead degenerating the player's current stun meter (which otherwise cannot be lowered). If the player gains courage again, the stun degeneration stops and courage builds back up. So the more courage you have, the less likely you are to be stunned and the more stun recovery you get after the degen kicks in. Both melee and ranged can gain courage but melee can gain much more of it. Perhaps through gems, gear stats, passive points (closer to strength side of the map), etc. It can add an additional balance element for melee to catch up to ranged characters in terms of survivability, given that if you get stunned by a monster in melee range it's usually much worse than ranged. I believe this system allows the players to have some playability with the game mechanics and invest some points into something that isn't just pure damage or making tank numbers go up (think things like +10% minimum courage nodes, where you trade off some stun recovery for a higher stun avoidance minimum, or maybe something like stun recovery from courage that lets you reset your stun meter more for each point of courage lost). I believe that's what the spirit of the game is going for.. and I believe GGG will realize it as well! What do you guys think?
