Feedback on Path of Exile 2 (POE2) Leagues and Seasonal Wipes
As a new player to ARPGs, I found Path of Exile 2 to be an incredible experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay, campaign, gearing, unique collection, endgame farming, build variety, and the fast patches and fixes. The community engagement and support from the developers have made it one of the best gaming experiences I've had in a long time.
However, I was disheartened when I learned about the concept of leagues, which involves periodic resets. While I understand these aren't complete wipes, the idea of moving on from the accomplishments I've worked hard to achieve over a league feels discouraging. It appears that the majority of the community shifts to the new league every three months, leaving the previous league feeling like a graveyard of past efforts. I appreciate that new leagues bring fresh economies and exciting mechanics, but coming from an MMORPG background, I’ve always valued the enduring nature of my achievements. It’s difficult to reconcile the idea of seeing my hard-earned progress become obsolete when the community moves on. I wonder if there's a way to balance the need for a fresh economy and updates without requiring players to leave behind their progress, allowing players to continue building on their achievements without feeling left out of the latest content. Thank you for considering this feedback. I hope that Grinding Gear Games can find a way to address these concerns while maintaining the excitement and innovation that makes Path of Exile so engaging. Yeah , look i get you , i do , i felt the same way when i was new to arpgs .
But you kinda have to accept it , its a must , and over time you will understand why. you see if there were no resets and they just added league on top of leagues . the power bloat would be horrible and impossible to balance . the economy would be crushed , and new player would simply never be able to afford even basic stuff from trade . i hope you can understand that , coz i feel the same way , but now i understand why it has to be like this. all long standing games have these system . look at one of the most popular mmo games world of warcraft . they do literally the same thing , but mask it in a way that you keep everything from the last expansion its just useless now . and if you ask me that is worse then just doing a reset . maybe not the best example but you get the point. |

You can still continue playing, and there are a lot of people that just play the basic Standard league. What the League does is reset the economy, and introduce some new mechanics, some of which are good and will be folded into the game moving forward, and some of which are not good and just go away.
Try not to view a new League as leaving behind old characters, because they're still around and you can still play them and have fun, but as a place to create new characters. :) |

Wanna add, that would be cool, that new league is released both on standart and new league season. In poe 1 i did not want to create new char, but play with new content, that was not possible.

I wouldn't consider the previous league a graveyard as every league goes to standard, it's not like league x stays with league x players and never sees anyone every again.
it's more likes there's server 1 and server 2 (not literally but a grouping thing) and players on league x(current league) will be playing on server 1, when a league y starts they all move to server 2and league y begins on server 1. Now let's say league z(the third one starts) three months after league y, league y players join league x players on server 2, and then server 1 becomes the fresh start server again for the new league. Players on league z will join players that played on league x and y on the same server 3 months later and the cycle repeats. It should also be noted that the server all these people go too sometimes adapts the new league content that has gone "core" or has been decided to kept in the game, this leads to even the standard or as everyone keeps saying "graveyard" still getting new stuff every so often. There is a very important thing that endures from one league to the next, your knowledge and experience. You'll find as you continue playing for years, that it takes very little time/effort to get back to endgame gameplay. This is a genre where knowledge converts effectively into power.
If the leagues didn't reset everything, you would get bored of the game rapidly and have no reason to continue playing. The nature of PoE having potentially thousands of viable builds means you have a reason to try something new. Many veteran players even level multiple characters to max level within a single league. |

" When I started in PoE - I felt the same way. I said "F that! I'll just keep playing my char in standard! They're not wiping MY efforts!" New league hit. I logged into standard - and kept grinding way....but it was getting stale. I wasn't really making a whole lot of progress. Economy was goofy and I didn't feel like I was 'growing' anymore. So I went and made an "alt" in the league....and....I was having fun again. I was progressing, I was gearing up and getting stronger every day and actually finding upgrades for myself and for trade. I never logged in to standard again... So all I can say is when the new league hits, do give it a shot. It's fun. |
