Shouldn't the number of maps requirement for Cataclysm's Wake be reversed?

(Just in case you don't recall, Cataclysm's Wake is the quest that gives you atlas points as you complete maps)
Right now, you have to complete 10 "white" maps on each tier for a couple points; on "yellow" maps it goes down to 8, then on "red" maps it goes down again to 6. Shouldn't this be swapped? It's so weird, because it makes the early tier maps feel like such a slog, you're weaker and struggling to get currency so maps feels even bigger than they are, while when you get to the point where you're on T13+ maps you just breeze through it. The progression curve is aggressively steep and exponential, shouldn't this be a bit more linear? I'm not sure there's really a solution for it to not feel like a chore, but this way feels weird, it's like the devs themselves are saying "yea, you probably got the gist of it and are probably bored by now, so let's reduce the requirement for you to get over it already". Swapping also makes sense as you get this "headstart" of getting points faster, sooner so you get to this level where maps start to feel actually different from the campaign, with more juice, loot, mechanics, etc. Last bumped on Jan 15, 2025, 1:33:30 PM

It's T1+ so there's nothing stopping you doing T15s to cover it if you have the gear to do that
I assume it's this way round to give people time to build up some gear so the later tiers don't seem so insurmountable |

" ??? I think you completely missed the point. But if we were to entertain that idea, i guess if you're one of the top players that get to lvl80+ on day 1 of a league that would be a great change, as you could theoretically keep buying T15s (because if your quest is still on T1s you're definitely not dropping T15s by yourself) and keep farming those and eventually get all the atlas points but... i don't see why build the game in a way that favours such an uncommon scenario. If your main/league starter is already up on T15s, the quest progress is kept throughout your alts anyway. " If you get to a tier that feels insurmountable, you farm the tier you can play at. If the requirements were swapped, you'd probably have more points to build your atlas around, so you're more likely able to farm your way up above and unstuck yourself from the lower tiers. To be fair, the scaling also feels a bit weird with map tiering right now. In my experience, i got up to T6+ with the same gear i had when completing the campaign, and it didn't really feel like the next tiers would be much harder, but i still bought upgrades anyway. From there all the way up to T15, it also didn't feel like going up in map tiers scaled the difficulty too much - it seems like as long as you get the map mods that fuck your build, you'll get fucked in any tier, and if you don't roll those mods, then it's just whatever. Pretty much everything else in the game is seemingly designed to ramp the difficulty up; it feels weirdly inconsistent to have this one aspect of the game scale down. |

I think they are gonna change it.
10 maps with no reward is too much, and this is the point where most people are gonna get bored with the lack of progress ad likely quit. In comparison, PoE1 would give you 1 point for each map and you'll have 10 points which allows to spec into things like essences/strongboxes already at this level. |

" I think you missed my point or maybe your own idk First level - 10 maps regardless of tier Tenth level - 6 (iirc) maps 10+ You don't have to do 10 maps at T1 there is nothing tying you to T1 There is something tying you to T10, the tier Swapping it so you only need 6 at 1 and 10 at 10 a) makes it more of a slog because these maps are harder to get and b) people who only look at the tier will feel that the game is fast pushing them towards high tier maps and then slowing their progression down, now they have to do more maps that are harder to get where there's more chance of dying Better to spend more time at lower tiers to get better chance of loot to help at higher tiers |

" Yeah I think the atlas tree is weak compared to poe1, just a series of bad compromises |
