Grand Compromise to improve Trade
|
GGG dosn't want an automated auction house.
(Some of us) find the current trade system causes frustration because of the larger playerbase and loss of efficiency and ettiquittee. (I've personally delisted most of my items) I think the best compromise is to have an efficient trade+chat+stash dialog that sellers can use to complete a trade without leaving what they are doing. 1. You are doing a map 2. You receive a trade request with buttons (start trade, and disable trade for this map).. buyer receives the state of any event you are doing (ritual, breech, delirium, etc), so they now you are not blowing them off but just busy for a few seconds. 3. you do something to calm down the fighting action (aka finish the breech or whatnot) 4. You push "start trade", which pauses the game and opens a trade/chat/stash window....(which doesn't allow you to move items between your player inventory and stash) allowing you to (a) get the item out of your stash, (b) talk to the player if you need to negotiate, (c) put items in trade window. 5. You setup and complete trade... moving received items into your stash. 6. You close dialog and resume playing map, not having burned a map portal for a 1ex trade. This has prevented players from having to deal with: 1. the confusion that the buyer can't portal to your guild hideout (which you are paying to have!) 2. someone tried to port to someone but the game crashed 3. the buyer got antsy from waiting 7 seconds, because he didn't know you were in breech, so he started flaming you and blocked you 4. the buyer getting mad and thinking trade is broken because the seller just decided a map portal is not worth 1ex so he ignored the request 5. or a dozen other irritating bad feeling social interactions that come from the current trade system If this existed, I would re-list all of my sale items on my trade character... Without it, anything less than 5-10ex is just not worth the trouble to sell. The reason this still has access to your stash, instead of just automatically putting the requested item in trade, is that the latter is very bottable, while the forcing the player to go get the proper item out of their stash is sort-of like CAPTCHA. Who's "we" in your post?

"We" is the spectrum of players from "wants an automated auction house" to "finds that while POE1's trade kinda works, it works less well in POE2 because of changes to game mechanics and the degredation of social equiquitte in a larger player base".
Or more simply, people who are not thrilled with the current trade experience. People who love the current trade experience don't seem hurt by this proposal as far as I can see. Last edited by KuroSF#6521 on Jan 10, 2025, 6:43:08 PM

GGG talking about adding in-game instant buyout trade: 01:51:36
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RskRFwgoQ5g&t=6842s Currency exchange should have been a wake up call. |

" Thanks, that's really good news... SO it sounds like they are expecting to create instant buyouts, and they will just put a notable (perhaps trade value scaling) gold fee/tax ontop of any instant buyout trade. Seems pretty fair and reasonable to me. I'm looking forward to them releasing something. If it fails, maybe the above idea is a backup. Last edited by KuroSF#6521 on Jan 10, 2025, 6:48:19 PM
