[Trade2] Website not returning full result sets (truncated subsets)

1) I set a limit on the query, e.g. Divines min:1, max: 2

* It says results: x, displays < x
-> "showing 13 results" (shows 2 results)
-> "showing 100 results (344 matched)" (shows < 100 results, around 30)
* It says results: x, "load more" appears after the first 1-2 results, then doesn't load more.

2) I don't set a currency limitation and just search for an item, like a corrupted widowhail > 270%, sorted in ascending currency order by default.

* a 1d item appears (price fixer); 1-3 2d items appear; several 3d items appear, then several 4d+ items appear

This is the one I'm mostly concerned about, because the 2d and 3d results are a subset of their individual result pools. It's picking 2-3 listings of 14 currently online 2d listings to show in that result set. It's not like the items are being sold or people are going offline/online (normal behaviour), as they'll cycle back on subsequent refreshes, but that it's not showing all 14 2d items in the initial search, when it is sorting by ascending price.

You can try to narrow down the result set by setting min/maximums or, where applicable, more concise searches such as adding rune modifiers or "Not: anything socketed with xyz", which may proportionally increase the relevant results within a set, but it still doesn't guarantee a complete result set.

Consequently: the results of specific searches are frequently not visible through a generalized search without excessive F5ing, as results are being 'artificially' truncated.

e.g. if you have a pool of 10,000 (cap) of say, Crown of Thorns, and you're trying to narrow it down to "cheap, isn't socketed with crap runes, or has a good corrupt" you might run a query like:
* item quality: 20
* AND: # to maximum energy shield: 148 (or Equipment Filters: ES min: 200)
* NOT: *Rune* #% to lightning/fire/cold resist, *Rune* #% increased Armour, Evasion and Energy Shield
* COUNT (1): *Enchant* # to maximum power charges, *Enchant* # to Spirit, *Rune* # to Spirit (min: 2)
"empty rune sockets" isn't placeable within a conditional group
https://www.pathofexile.com/trade2/search/poe2/Standard/D9dErJdS5

which resulted in 1 listing at 150ex (I bought it, so it won't show now).

When searching "Crown of Thorns, corrupted: yes, price: exalted (min: 100, max: 200)" it didn't show initially. It reported 4 results, only ever showed 2 at a time, with the 150ex result eventually showed up after F5ing 6x. When redoing the previous search with no price limitation, it reported 14 results, and only showed 10-11 of them at a time, where the 150ex one was occasionally -but not always- present.

1. sounds like a third-party browser extension is messing with your results. Do you have a search link handy that can reproduce the issue without any extensions?

2. any time that you see 10,000+ matched, it means that the search is incomplete and has returned partial results. This is an internal limit so that the site isn't overwhelmed, and should always be taken to mean that you should narrow your search further for accurate results.

Reviewing the video you have provided, yeah that is definitely an extension messing with your results. Try with it disabled and see if that helps.

There are definitely some items that you can't narrow the search more, which makes the 10k match and only 100 results view a major bottleneck.
Hopefully this outlier cases gets fixed sooner rather than later. More robust / fully implemented filters should do it. (Quite a few stats can't be filtered for, and psuedo doesn't exist)

yeah you're right, my bad. It was the poe bookmark extension. I've removed it.
you can nuke this thread.

2) Ya, I just meant to illustrate that when trying to narrow down a larger pool of items, it took so many resets to see a complete subset of results. As Nirosu said, it isn't always possible, for example, with Against the Darkness.
