Legacy of the vaal quest stuck

I logged out of poe2 for dinner came back and the quest appears to be stuck. It wants me to retrieve the large soul core near alva however it is not possible. It is 'plugged' in to wall already and there is nothing to click on. I triggered the boss fight once before I logged out so I know he is supposed to pop out as you remove the stone from the wall. Help I have nothing to click on and I appear stuck in the quest.

I'm in the same situation so watching this for an answer.

figured it out need to turn on the other parts of the map using the medium cores in Jiquani's Sanctum - so the room has the red lines on the floor again. My family helped me figure it out :)
