Meditation skill is just poorly designed

And by poorly designed: I mean its design incentivizes the most boring way to play.
Clear screen. Hit meditation. Wait until at 2x ES. Repeat.
Sure, you technically have some modicum of movement while channeling, but it's just boring, while also optimal.

How to fix: Make it not an out-of-combat spell. Which might require some renaming.

First spitball of an idea:
Battle Focus
Instant cast, start ES regen. For the duration, when you hit an enemy, double the regeneration for 0.5 seconds. Overcharges energy shield during this extra regeneration. Ends prematurely being hit.

What are you going on about. Meditate is an optional skill.

Use life flasks and grim feast if you don’t want its draw back.

Everything is optional. Even playing the game is optional.

But why have an entire dedicated ascendancy passive to something, whose optimal gameplay is objectively as boring as possible? The point of Early Access is to get feedback about what they have so far. (One reason would be to serve as a cost to something better like time stop, without literally being a dead node. This has no such better node.)

Also, you can't respec out of ascendancy passives yet. So less optional if you aren't running your entire playthrough via reddit meta.

You can totally respec ascendancy points, you just cant change your ascendancy.
Use weapon sets. Primary set is your grinding set, 2nd set dedicated fully to shield recharge. Set meditate to cast with 2nd set. You’re welcome.

Use your 24 weapon set points to take every recharge rate node you can. You can get to x2 ES in under a second or less.
Enerhy Shield recharge rate speeds up Meditate as well so you can make it much faster.

hmm? How? I presume the hooded figure, and you can just refund it?

Also, just making it take less time just makes it more powerful. It doesn't make the design not encourage a boring play style.
