Local Coop Experience
I play local coop on a ps5. I was wondering what the rest of the community’s experience has been with local coop?
I feel like I am being punished for playing local coop. There have been several bosses that me and my coop partner have had to solo because it was the only option. The space given to coop players is not enough to dodge effectively in a game that requires near flawless dodging. The invisible barrier that surrounds coop players is generally a death sentence. There have been very few times when a revive has been successful. There is rarely enough time, generally troublesome to initiate (have to push button multiple times till it works wasting time), and players revive right into a one shot. The game is tuned to a point where it assumes coop players are experts and are trying to cheat to run through the game at break neck speeds. The reality is that local coop is a disadvantage. I can see that local coop might be an advantage when dealing with mobs but with bosses who are already overturned it is a nightmare. I can’t say for sure but I am pretty sure the local coop demographic is largely couples. If not that, then there is usually a more pro player and a more novice player brought in for the ride. Turning the difficulty to mission impossible is not appropriate. If the response is this is not Poe 1 go play that. Make Poe 1 local coop and I will happily move on. Probably it's better to put your feedback directly into console feedback forum - just because that feedback section is very crowded, four feedback can literally drown in there.
Also stay sane, exile! Just imagined PoE2 in splitscreen mode and it got me shivers |

My experience is that I looked at it and thought "Who wants to do that?". It's bad enough when you're playing in a group on different PCs due to all the on-screen effects, but at least you can move around and utilize all the space of the often small enough arenas.

" I am not sure what you mean. I play local coop on the PC and the "space" is exactly the same as playing alone. The only limitation is that you can't get too far from one and another, but for boss fights this is hardly an issue as most boss arenas fit in one screen. Is the PS5 local coop different? Is it split screen? Regarding the revive, I think it is intentionally very slow and mainly meant to revive after you kill all mobs around. In rare occasions, like very slow boss attacks, we may be able to pull off a mid fight revive, but usually you either finish the fight alone, or restart the fight (in the campaign). |

Ps5 is shared screen. There are some arenas where the boss arena does fit perfectly on the shared screen and others where it does not. Trying to stay close together is not a very great survival tactic, especially when fighting bosses like Jamanra.
I don’t have a psychic connection with my coop buddy. Limiting my movement at all is a disadvantage. The ability to see anything on screen between the boss and player effects is very difficult. Sometimes you can barely see your player but you and your other player better dodge correctly (away from attacks but close enough to one another you don’t lock the others movement). Due to technical limitations the distance between players may be something that cannot be changed. It should be taken into consideration that it is a disadvantage that local coop players face. Less revive time, or less bullet spongey bosses, or whatever GGG’s creative minds can come up with, just something to try and improve the local coop experience would be greatly appreciated. I do agree with some of the sentiment of who cares about local coop. It is a small audience and a massive game that needs a lot of attention. I will wait patiently and hope eventually they can get around to doing something. I know there are more important issues to address first. Last edited by Shidergundam#8721 on Jan 8, 2025, 5:44:37 AM
