Ci or stack Chaos resist?
|
Hey there. Atm I am making a build based on the unique claw Essentia Sanguis. So basiclly it is about block chance while dualwielding + leech on energy shield.
Now I am not sure whether i should stack Chaos resists or go CI. +Pro Chaos resists: I got my lifepool available for auras with bloodmagic. So I would be able to put on 1-2 more auras which would increase my dmg drastically. +saving 8 skillpoints for not skilling into CI direction. -Contra: All Equipments needs +Chaos resistance and I am not completely immute to chaos, which means with a small life pool (it is around 500 atm) this could still be dangerous. Furthermore +36% increased es knodes won't be available. which can be taken after CI. So i dont rly know what to do. Any tipps/experience about this? Edit: Here is my skilltree if interesteed. Blockchance is overall then around 65% +Eva/Es gear. -->~30% evasion in merci i guess. Not sure about Inner Force and Vaal impact. With CI I think with CI inner force and vaal impact should be traded in for something else. If i would go NO Ci, then I would be able to run 4 auras, and inner Force would be rly usefull, but otherwise....dunno so No Vall & inner force -->more dmg, 36% more ES And No CI? I don't know how rich you are but I wouldn't leave the house with 500HP and Chaos resists below 80%. (I'm playing HC ofc...)
But on the other hand if you can afford quality Chaos Resist gear to achieve that you could as well get half of it an take Shavonne's, enabling you to do all sorts of low-Life stuff. |

I always want to go CI, but the whole stun + status ailment problem stops me.
Brutus. Do you even sync?

" Aren't u immune to stun with CI? What do you mean with stus alignment problem? @Buchsbaum: Rich? Not really. Only have 2 exalts left. Was also thinking about shavones, but I dont think i can afford it withing the next months lol (around 15 ex atm)... Last edited by WUlf1337#0866 on May 3, 2013, 9:36:32 PM

" You have a 50% chance of avoiding being stunned when hit with an attack which would normally stun. Everyone with ES gets this, not just CI. The chance of being stunned is proportional to the attack damage relative to your maximum life, which with CI is taken to be your life if you didn't have CI so only about ~4-600. So when you come across many enemies or enemies who do a lot of small attacks you're dead. The length of status ailments is proportional to how much damage the attack does, again relative to your maximum life. If the length of the status ailment is shorter than the minimum length then it's canceled and your not effected by it. But with CI you don't have much life so all status ailments will last the full length. Brutus. Do you even sync? Last edited by AnnanFay#3468 on May 3, 2013, 10:12:56 PM

Something to think about is maybe making a pre-CI build and a post CI build. You don't have to take life nodes before taking CI, but there will be an additional challenge if you skip them. Getting swarmed or ranged attacks from bows is bad for a build without life nodes around Act II in Cruel. My CI Cold Crit Witch is there right now, so I'm not saying it isn't possible to pull off, but just harder. This obviously says nothing of what dealing with chaos damage is like. General rule for when to switch to CI is when you have 2,500 ES. Standard uniques for a CI user is anything that prevents stuns and being frozen, ie Eye of Chayula and Dream Fragments.

" Wtf, I thought its propoortional to your life but on a %-bias. And with your life being 1 and awlays full you are immune to stun, cause your life never takes any dmg (or you are alrdy dead). And thought its the same for status alignments..... *sigh* That gamemechanic is so broken....So i see: Next build will be a Marauder with only lifeknodes....gg. Back to topic: So without taking lifeknodes and my lifepool being so small (~500) what would you choose? resist or CI? Resist and mroe lifeknodes? I will instert my build in the first post. |

CI. You can't reasonably run auras on your HP and expect to survive chaos damage even with 75% resist, so that advantage is lost. At bare minimum, in default league, I'd want 1k HP and 75% chaos res to be comfortable vs chaos. And that's still pretty sketchy in high lvl maps.

Getting enough Chaos resits would be even harder than to get good ES on your gear... And especially in maps you won't survive with 500 HP even with maxed chaos resist.
So i would go for CI if i were you. The additional 8 nodes you said you will have to put into the tree for it would have to be put into life nodes if you would go the resist way. (btw there are some pretty nice nodes to avoid status ailments, though to get all of them takes quite a few passives) Proud 5th duelist in the Jul 1 2012 Ladder Race and in the Nov 3 2012 Solo Turbo Race :D
And even prouder 4th Templar in the Nov 10 Four-hour Party Hardcore Race :P Current OB success: top 20 Ranger in 105 Minute Turbo Solo (S4E9) |

" One of the many reasons this game is called path of lifenodes. @topic: I would choose more lifenodes (not much, maybe that you'll land around 800?). And stack chaos-resist till 80, you can fill up the other 3 resists with aura. |
