Spock's Crossbow Deadeye Feedback - Campaign
|
Just finished the campaign - feedback so far.
General thoughts: - Deadeye has been better in every way than Mace Warrior, except for boss damage. Not bossing; just the damage part. Bossing is much easier with the better mobility and fast attacks. - I have felt tankier at every part of the campaign on this character than the Warrior ever did. - Crossbow skills mostly feel quite good. I've been playing Galvanic Shards with a couple of different single target abilities - currently Shockburst Rounds. - Early crossbow gameplay seems designed to encourage combos, but combos aren't very effective with low reload speeds; in the time it takes to switch ammo, you might as well just shoot a couple more times. Observations (maybe bugs?: - An occasional mob just seems to be extremely shock resistant, despite having no such mod. Most monsters get shocked after 1, maybe 2 clips of GS ammo; these random anti-shock mobs die after 6+ clips without ever being shocked. I have a LOT of shock chance investment. - Occasionally, after reloading, my crossbow simply won't fire. I have to release the fire button and re-press it to get it to shoot again. Perhaps my cursor is over terrain? This happens much more often in tight indoor zones. - This supposedly ranged character is MUCH better when surrounded by monsters in melee range than the Mace Warrior. Being able to quickly blast 5-7 shots into the pack in my face is very nice. - Voltaic Mark is great - very much feels like what Marks in POE1 could have been. - The "damage when charms are active" node sounds good except that my charm uptimes is extremely low according to my buff icons... To the point where I wonder if they are working. Complaints: - Crossbow models are ugly. - Plasma Blast doesn't seem very useful. Few bosses, even while stunned or electrocuted, allow for the crazy long windup. Much worse than Perfect Strike. - It's hard to tell when to use Emergency Reload. - Using Explosive Shot to pay off other conditions is very clunky during the campaign and rarely worth it. - As with Warrior, the character is very weapon-dependent. It'd be nice if a bit more power was in other gear or passive skills. Last bumped on Jan 4, 2025, 12:48:59 PM
